Three questions from the GOV.UK Simpler Recycling guidance. Nothing you pick leaves this page.

The three streams, in plain words
| Stream | The rule |
|---|---|
| Dry recyclables | Plastic, metal, glass, paper and card - presented how your collector wants it (loose or clear bags) |
| Food waste | Mandatory even without a kitchen; never ask staff to take it home. Tea bags and coffee grounds count. Waste cooking oil goes here or to a dedicated collection |
| Residual | Everything else - including packaging labelled "compostable" or "biodegradable", which must NOT go in food waste |
Garden waste from your premises must be recycled or composted where that gives the best environmental outcome.
The Simpler Recycling Pack for micro-firms
- Compliance checklist (Excel): ten tasks from the FTE count to written collector confirmation.
- Stream planner: what goes in each stream, what rejects a load, container and frequency planning.
- Waste-collector question list: six questions to pin down bags vs loose, food-waste frequency, contamination rules.
- Staff briefing: a copy-and-adapt script that explains the three streams in thirty seconds.
- The traps: compostable-labelled packaging, the no-kitchen food waste duty, the FTE counting rule.
What it is not: templates and checklists, not legal advice. It organises the GOV.UK guidance into an action list; your waste collector and the current guidance are the final word.

Questions
We are 8 people in an office with no kitchen. Food waste, really? Really. The guidance says you must collect food waste even if the workplace does not serve food or have a kitchen, no matter how little there is - and staff must not be asked to take it home.
Our landlord handles the bins. The duty sits with the workplace. Confirm with your landlord or collector that the service separates the three streams - the pack's collector question list gets it in writing.
Is this advice? No. It is a checklist pack built from the GOV.UK Simpler Recycling guidance. Your collector confirms the practical setup.
